TRAVEL GUIDE TO NUNG NUNG WATERFALL IN BALI

Nung Nung waterfall was one of the most powerful waterfalls we have seen in all of Bali. She is a little north of Ubud, and a perfect stop-over on the way to Northern Bali. The waterfall is breathtakingly beautiful and, when visiting at the right time, you will be treated to some incredible lighting and photo opportunities. This isn’t the best place to go swimming as the water levels are low and the water falling is incredibly strong, but it is a must see destination in Bali.

HOW TO GET TO NUNG NUNG WATERFALL

Nung Nung Waterfall is located in central Bali. This makes it a perfect stop-over to Northern Bali from the south. The waterfall is both an hour’s drive from Ubud and Canggu. It is a perfect location to combine with other destinations in the area like Leke Leke Waterfall and Jatiluwih Rice Terraces.

We drove a scooter to Nung Nung Waterfall so we had the freedom to arrive at our own time and stay for as long as we wanted. Scooter rental in Bali is roughly 50K IDR ($5 AUD) per day.

However, if you aren’t confident or experienced in riding scooters, then hiring a driver for the day is really easy. We have found the cheapest Bali Drivers that will take you on any customised private tour around Bali. You can book your affordable Bali driver here.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT NUNG NUNG WATERFALL

We arrived at the Nung Nung Waterfall carpark after a visit to Jatiluwih Rice Terraces in the morning. We paid 20K ($2 AUD) each for entry and an additional 2K (20c AUD) for parking our scooter. It was about a 15-minute walk down concrete stairs. They were quite steep, so be prepared for the walk up!

Nung Nung Waterfall is a powerful falls. This place isn’t great for swimming, but the beauty of it makes up for it. You can feel the power of the falls from the rocks in front, and there is no doubt that you will get wet from the spray! It’s a great way to cool off in the Bali heat.

WHEN TO VISIT NUNG NUNG WATERFALL

Like all tourist attractions, we advise arriving as early as possible. We arrived at 9:30am but could have come earlier as there was a crowd of people here already. However, we did not regret this decision, as at this time of the day the sun shines through the tree tops and there is some pretty cool lighting. Check out the photos we got below.

The wet season in Bali lasts from November to February, however the water is flowing all year round. You can visit Nung Nung Falls anytime of the year.
